This week has been all about inspiring, connecting with, and educating some of the UK’s leading interior designers, architects, and clients at the Surface Design Show.

We were right at the heart of the show, hosting the Stone Tapestry and Stone Knowledge Hub, both of which were hugely popular with the show’s visitors.
The Stone Knowledge Hub featured A F Jones, Arcturus Stone, Brick From a Stone, Fila Surface Care Solutions, In Opera Group, and Welsh Slate.
This mix of UK and international stone suppliers and stonemasonry and fabrication experts gave designers and architects a snapshot into what Stone Federation and its members bring to projects.

Alongside this was a fresh expression of the Stone Tapestry, this year designed around the theme, ‘Understanding Process, Perfecting Design’. Designed by Squire & Partners, the piece was created thanks to the fabrication skills and materials of Albion Stone, Britannicus Stone, Hutton Stone, Marble Collective, Stamford Stone, The Stonemasonry Company, and Welsh Slate.
The tapestry featured both raw and processed stone, showcasing the beauty of texture and tone found in the material, allowing designers to go beyond just a sample piece and bring some of the raw beauty of a quarry to the Surface Design Show floor.
This theme was also the focus of our main stage panel discussion, which featured leading interior design voices Tim Gledstone, Senior Partner at Squire & Partners, Roisin Lafferty, Founder & Creative Director at Roisin Lafferty, and Giulliana Giorgi, Architect at Allies & Morrison.

The session was standing room only and demonstrated the ever-increasing rise in popularity that natural stone is seeing and the desire from designers and architects to better understand the material.
During the show, we also hosted two networking opportunities, one for Stone Federation members and the other, a Women in Natural Stone gathering. Both events and the show as a whole allowed us to connect with the large number of members who were visiting the event.
A big thank you to all of our Stone Tapestry contributors and Stone Knowledge Hub exhibitors for their part in making the event such a success.
